Fire Department Responses in the Last Week

Here's what went down last week at Snohomish County Fire District One.

Snohomish County Fire District 1 responded to 318 calls the week of April 21-27: 264 emergency medical aid calls, 17 motor vehicle collisions, eight fires, two natural gas leaks, 11 service calls and 16 automatic fire alarms.

April 22

COLLISION:  At 5:23 p.m., a vehicle went down the wrong side of the street and hit a telephone pole in the 21000 block of 76th Ave. W in Edmonds.  The car received minor damage and the driver was transported by firefighters to Swedish/Edmonds.

COLLISION:  At 10:16 p.m., a car hit a fence in the 15900 block of 44th Ave. W. north of Lynnwood. Firefighters transported the driver to Swedish/Edmonds.

April 24

COLLISION: At 5:10 p.m., a car collided with and severed a fire hydrant in the 1400 block of Center Road south of Everett.  The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported by firefighters to Swedish/Edmonds.

 April 25

COLLISION: At 2:05 a.m., a vehicle went off the road and down an embankment on southbound I-5 south of the 128th Street exit. One person was transported by firefighters to Swedish/Mill Creek.

COOKING FIRE:  At 6:14 a.m., a kitchen fire was reported at an apartment in the 4100 block of 156th Street SW north of Lynnwood.  Two adults and two children safely evacuated the apartment after attempting to extinguish the stovetop grease fire. Firefighters made sure the fire was out and damage was contained to the kitchen area. One resident told firefighters she had fallen asleep while food was cooking and awoke to the smell of smoke. The fire marshal determined that no smoke alarm sounded as the batteries had been removed. Damage to the apartment was estimated at $5,000.

COLLISION:  At 2:51 p.m., a collision was reported at 150th Place SW and Manor Way north of Lynnwood.  Firefighters transported three patients to Swedish/Mill Creek.

COLLISION:  At 9:09 p.m., a blocking accident was reported at the intersection of 164th Street SW and 36th Avenue West north of Lynnwood. Firefighters transported one patient to Swedish/Edmonds.

COLLISION:  At 10:42 p.m., two people were injured when a car crashed into a retaining wall on southbound I-5 south of the 220th Street exit in Mountlake Terrace.  Firefighters transported one patient to Northwest Hospital and the other patient to Harborview Medical Center.

Fire District 1 is the largest provider of fire and emergency medical services in Snohomish County, serving more than 200,000 residents in the unincorporated communities of Silver Firs, Eastmont, Mariner, Lake Serene, Picnic Point, Martha Lake, Mariner, Lake Stickney, Norma Beach, Hilltop, Hilton Lake and Pioneer Trails; the Cities of Brier, Edmonds and Mountlake Terrace; and the Town of Woodway.
