Fire Department Responses: House and Gazebo Fires

Snohomish County Fire District One makes 341 calls the week of April 5-11.

Snohomish County Fire District 1 responded to 341 calls the week of April 5-11: 262 emergency medical aid calls, 22 motor vehicle collisions, 21 fires, 17 service calls, one natural gas leak, two hazardous materials responses and 16 automatic fire alarms.

April 5

CAR FIRE: At 9:03 p.m., firefighters responded to a car fire in the 8700 block of 27th Avenue SE east of Everett. No one was injured.

April 6

HOUSE FIRE: At 3:05 a.m., firefighters responded to a fire at a single-story house in the 23800 block of 55th Avenue W in Mountlake Terrace. Two residents safely exited as flames engulfed the back half of the house. The fire caused $125,000 in damage and displaced four renters. Investigators determined that the cause of the accidental fire was either a candle or cigarette.

April 7

COLLISION: At 1:23 p.m., a four-car collision was reported at 220th Street SW and 64th Avenue W in Mountlake Terrace. Firefighters transported one patient to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

GAZEBO FIRE:  At 7:30 p.m., a recreational fire got out of control and spread to a gazebo next to a home in the 4000 block of Serene Way north of Lynnwood. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and no one was injured.

April 9

COLLISION: At 2:32 p.m., a two-car collision was reported at 134th Place SE and 58th Drive SE east of Everett. Firefighters transported one patient to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital and one patient to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.

April 11

BRUSH FIRE: At 5:37 a.m., firefighters responded to a report of a tree fire at a home in the 1030 block of 188th Place SW  east of Lynnwood.  Twenty three large shrubs were lost in the fire. Investigators believe a welding torch sparked the fire. Damage is estimated at $5,000.

Fire District 1 is the largest provider of fire and emergency medical services in Snohomish County, serving more than 225,000 residents in the unincorporated communities of Silver Firs, Eastmont, Mariner, Lake Serene, Picnic Point, Martha Lake, Mariner, Lake Stickney, Norma Beach, Hilltop, Hilton Lake and Pioneer Trails; the Cities of Brier, Edmonds and Mountlake Terrace; and the Town of Woodway.

If you want to know what it's like to have your religion disrespected, try having school camps,Read More orchestra and band concerts and back-to-school nights on the holiest of your religious holidays (equivalent to Christmas and Easter). Everyone knows that an egg hunt is an Easter event whether it's called that or not. Everyone know that a holiday tree is really a Christmas tree. Trust me, the atheists and/or non-Christians are not trying to destroy Christianity. First, it would be impossible. Second, it would be too dangerous to us personally. Last, I personally respect other's traditions, but I'm not sure the same can always be said in reverse.

First of all, the government is not supposed to promote any religion. Secondly, the Easter bunnyRead More and egg hunt has no historical religious significance that I can think of, even though this is part of an American tradition. I am good with deleting the word Easter, and would like to see a departure from any emphasis on candy, which only compounds the diabetic epidemic in this country. Sometimes it is good to rethink the wisdom of something simply because it is a "tradition".
