Fire Department Responses: Collision on Olympic View Drive

Snohomish County Fire District One makes 357 calls the week of Aug. 30-Sept. 5.

Snohomish County Fire District 1 responded to 357 calls the week of Aug. 30–Sept. 5:  277 emergency medical aid calls, 26 motor vehicle collisions, 23 fires, 16 service calls, three natural gas leaks and 12 automatic fire alarms.

Aug. 30

COLLISION: At 5:01 p.m., a car pulling a boat trailer was involved in a collision with another vehicle in the 1230 block of Olympic View Drive in Edmonds.  Firefighters provided medical treatment at the scene for occupants with minor injuries.

Aug. 31

PORCH FIRE: At 4:38 a.m., a house fire was reported in the 100 block of 120th Street SE south of Everett. The resident reported the smell of smoke coming from the porch.  Firefighters quickly extinguished a small fire contained to a wood planter box on the porch. Damage is estimated at $500. The cause is believed to be a carelessly discarded cigarette.

COLLISION: At 4:16 p.m., a two-car, rear-end collision was reported at Gibson Road and Highway 99 south of Everett.  Firefighters transported one patient to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

COLLISION:  At 4:43 p.m., a two-car collision was reported on northbound I-5 south of exit 189 near Everett. Firefighters transported one patient to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.

Sept. 2

CAR FIRE: At 4:55 p.m., a vehicle fire was reported in the 1200 block of 4th Avenue West south of Everett. The driver said the car was overheating so he pulled over to add water to the radiator. He continued driving and was forced to pull over again. He heard a loud noise and smelled smoke. He exited the car and found it had caught fire. Firefighters arrived to find the car engulfed in flames.  A dry chemical extinguisher was used to control the fire, which was fed from a gas leak underneath the car. The fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported.

Sept. 4

PEDESTRIAN STRUCK BY CAR: At 10:01 a.m., a child was struck by a car in the 20500 block of Damson Road east of Lynnwood. The child had minor injuries and was transported by firefighters to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

PEDESTRIAN STRUCK BY CAR: At 3:47 p.m., a 4-year-old boy was seriously injured when he was struck by a car in the 100 block of 124th Street SE south of Everett.  He was transported by firefighters to Harborview Medical Center.

PEDESTRIAN STRUCK BY CAR: At 5:52 p.m., an adult pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in the intersection of 232nd Street SW and 56th Avenue W in Mountlake Terrace. The pedestrian received minor injuries and was transported by firefighters to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

Sept. 5

COOKING FIRE:  At 7:43 p.m., a fire was reported at a triplex in the 8100 block of 240th Street SW in Edmonds. Firefighters arrived to find a grease fire on a stove. The fire was quickly extinguished and did not extend to the structure.  No injuries were reported.
