Fire Department Responses: Car Crashes Into Building on SR 99

Snohomish County Fire District 1 makes 388 calls the week of Oct. 11-17.

Snohomish County Fire District 1 responded to 388 calls the week of Oct. 11-17: 318 emergency medical aid calls, 35 motor vehicle collisions, 13 fires, 10 service calls and one natural gas leak.

Oct. 11

COLLISION: At 5:04 p.m., a motorcyclist crashed in the 20100 block of S. Danvers Road east of Lynnwood. Firefighters transported the driver to Harborview Medical Center.

Oct. 12

COLLISION: At 11:27 a.m., a car crashed into a building in the 21900 block of Highway 99 in Edmonds. Firefighters transported the driver to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

OVEN FIRE: At 7:40 p.m., firefighters responded to a kitchen fire at a home in the 22600 block of 68th Place W in Mountlake Terrace.  The residents told firefighters she left chicken cooking in the oven while she went to the store and came home to find the house full of smoke and flames visible in the oven. Firefighters extinguished the fire, which was contained to the oven.

COLLISION: At 10:55 p.m., firefighters responded to a collision on the ramp from southbound I-5 to southbound I-405 and transported one patient to Evergreen Hospital.

Oct. 14

COLLISION: At 9:37 a.m., firefighters transported one patient to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital after responding to a collision at 236th Street SW and I-5 in Mountlake Terrace.

FIREWORKS: At 9:13 p.m., several callers reported a flash of light and a loud explosion near 199th Street SW and Filbert Road east of Lynnwood.  Firefighters located the remnants of a homemade firework.

COLLISION: At 11:54 p.m., a car spun out and struck a guardrail on the ramp from southbound I-5 to southbound I-405. Firefighters transported one patient to Evergreen Hospital.

Oct. 16

COLLISION: At 6:17 a.m., a two-vehicle rollover collision was reported at 112th Street SW and 4th Avenue W south of Everett. A sports utility vehicle involved in the collision came to rest on its side. Firefighters worked for about 20 minutes with rescue tools to free the driver from the wreckage. His injuries appeared minor and he was taken by medic unit to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.

COLLISION: At 6:36 a.m., firefighters responded to a multiple-car collision on the I-405 overpass at I-5. One of the cars involved flipped over and others were on the shoulder.  Firefighters treated minor injuries at the scene.

TRAIN-TRUCK COLLISION: At 6:56 a.m., firefighters responded after a Sounder Train struck a semitruck at 71 Main Street in Edmonds near the ferry dock. The cab of the truck was heavily damaged, but the driver escaped before the train struck and was uninjured. No one on the train was injured.

CAR-BICYCLE COLLISION: At 5:16 p.m., a bicyclist was struck by a car in the block of 22800 Cedar Way S in Mountlake Terrace.  Firefighters transported the cyclist to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.
