Finances the Subject of Regional Fire Authority Meeting on Wednesday

The group is considering consolidation of fire services, which could be put up for public vote.

The Regional Fire Authority Planning Committee exploring fire service consolidation in south Snohomish County will meet Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Ballinger Golf Course Clubhouse, 23000 Lakeview Drive, Mountlake Terrace.

Edmonds, Woodway, Brier, Lynnwood, Mill Creek, Mountlake Terrace, Mukilteo and Snohomish County Fire Districts 1 and 7 formed the exploratory RFA Planning Committee in March 2010.

Since then, the group made up of three elected officials from each jurisdiction has been gathering, analyzing and combining information from each agency on fire-service finances, budgets and operations. The planning process is expected to take at least two years and could, if deemed feasible, culminate in a public vote to create an RFA.
