Expect DUI Patrols Memorial Day Weekend

Snohomish County law enforcement, including Edmonds Police officers, will be on the lookout for speeders and drunk drivers.

Snohomish County law enforcement officers will be watching out for drunk and reckless drivers over the holiday weekend.

A Washington Traffic Safety Commission grant provided funding for nearly two dozen officers to conduct DUI and speed patrols throughout Memorial Day weekend. Edmonds Police officers will be participating.

Other agencies taking part in the patrol include the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, the Washington State Patrol, and police departments in Arlington, Bothell, Brier, Everett, Granite Falls, Lake Stevens, Lynnwood, Marysville, Mill Creek, Monroe, Mountlake Terrace, Mukilteo, Snohomish and Tulalip.

Officers plan to look out for underage drinking, driving under the influence, speeding, and not wearing a seatbelt.

“Making these poor choices causes the most deaths on our highways,” said Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon. “We want a fatality free holiday, as well as a fatality free graduation and prom season in Snohomish County.”
