An Edmonds teen pleaded not guilty to a charge of felony harassment in King County Juvenile Court this morning. The 16-year-old former Skyline High School student is suspected of posting a message on a web forum threatening to shoot students at Skyline High School in Sammamish on Sept. 20.
He was and Patch does not name juvenile suspects unless they are charged as adults.
The teen, who arrived to the court wearing a soft-cast type boot on one foot and using crutches, did not speak in court, nor did his parents.
King County Deputy Prosecutor Eric Shelton requested that Judge Helen Halpert continue an order that the teen be detained at his parents home with electronic home monitoring, a condition which the boy's attorney, Jeffrey Kabel, did not challenge.
Halpert agreed to this, telling the boy, "Electronic home monitoring is a form of detention," and that if he violated the terms of his detention he would be returned to the juvenile detention facility.
Halpert also reiterated that the boy is not to have unsupervised Internet access, and added that if he needs to have a cell phone, it is not to be a smartphone, which can access the Internet.
