Edmonds Police Release Description of Armed Robbery Suspect

Police say they are still investigating an attempted armed robbery on 72nd Avenue this morning that had Edmonds-Woodway High School locked down for about an hour.

Edmonds Police released on Wednesday a description of an armed robbery suspect they are seeking.

The pursuit of the man, described as a late 20’s-early 30’s year old black male, dark skinned with pock marks on his face and having a heavy accent, resulted in a lockdown at Edmonds-Woodway High School. He was wearing a black hoody with a white tee shirt underneath.

At approximately 9:10 AM Wednesday morning, a 35-year-old Edmonds woman was arriving home at the apartment complex she resides in, located at 72nd Ave W and 213th Pl SW.

As the woman was getting out of her car she was accosted by a man armed with a pistol.  He threatened her as he demanded money from her.  The victim didn’t have any money to give to the suspect, who then left on foot still armed with the pistol.

She immediately called police, and Edmonds Police units were on scene shortly afterwards.  As the officers, assisted by a Lynnwood PD K9 unit, searched for the suspect, Edmonds Woodway High School was locked down as a precaution because the suspect was reportedly armed.

After about 45 minutes the K9 search ended and the school was notified.  The suspect was last seen in the area of the Park 212 apartments on foot.
