On April 6, Edmonds police responded to a burglary report in the 22200 block of 96th Avenue West in the Westgate neighborhood. The homeowner was not in the house. After investigating, police suspected the home might be robbed again and closely monitored it.

Early Monday morning this week, Edmonds Police officers surrounded the home in less than three minutes after being alerted that the home was being robbed again.

Edmonds Police officers, with assistance from Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace Police, saw a suspicious vehicle parked directly across the street from the home. Moments later, they saw the suspected burglar leaving the home, carrying bags stuffed with stolen property. The suspect, who was armed, was taken into custody without resistance.

The resident was again not home at the time.

The Monroe man was arrested for suspicion of residential burglary. His vehicle was seized by police until they could get a search warrant to recover stolen property inside. As the investigation developed, detectives served three search warrants where stolen property was recovered from the seized vehicle as well as the suspected burglar’s residence in Monroe.

The recovered property included precious metals, jewelry, silver and china serving sets, televisions, collectable antiques and tools.  Some of the property was easily identified by owner-inscribed unique numbers.

Blackburn says detectives have solved six Edmonds burglaries the suspect is believed responsible for. The man was taken to the Snohomish County Jail.
