Edmonds PD Releases Sex Offender Alert; Neighborhood Near High School

Mark Edward Johnson had nine felony convictions for indecent exposure in Colorado.

The Edmonds Police Department has sent fliers to residents within a one-mile radius of the 8200 block of 215th St. SW due to a new Level 3 sex offender in the area.

Level 3 sex offenders post the highest risk to re-offend.

Mark Edward Johnson, a 48-year-old white male, has been convicted nine times for indecent exposure in Colorado.

According to official documents, Johnson pled guilty to the crime of felony indecent exposure and was sentenced on Jan. 21, 2009, to five years supervised probation. This sentence was revoked on July 23, 2009, and Johnson was given a term of 18 months with the Colorado Department of Corrections with credit for 255 days that had already been served.

The victims in all of his cases have been adults, except one in which a 12-year-old was with her mother at the time of the crime. Johnson reports that his victims have been adult females the same age as him.

After reviewing his cases, Johnson would drive to a shopping mall area, grocery store or fitness center area. He would then drive the parking lots in his vehicle after talking off his shirt and pulling his pants down. He would then masturbate himself while watching the adult females walk by.

Johnson has stated that his first arrest for indecent exposure was in 1994 and his last in 2009. According to the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office, Johnson has no vehicle and relies of transportation by family members.

The Edmonds Police Department and the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office have no control as to where Johnson lives, and he is no longer on supervision.
