Edmonds PD Debuts Web Site, Names New Public Information Officer

Sgt. Mike Blackburn replaces Sgt. Don Anderson.

The Edmonds Police Department has unveiled a new, informative Web site and has announced that administrative Sgt. Mike Blackburn is now its public information officer.

He replaces Professional Standards Sgt. Don Anderson, who was the PIO for six years.

Blackburn begins his new duties on Wednesday.

The PIO responds to media requests and releases public safety information. According to the Web site: "It’s our goal to provide timely information of value to the community while complying with public disclosure laws and protecting the integrity of criminal investigations."

News releases that are sent out to media can now be accessed at the Web site. There is also contact information and some basics regarding the operations of the PIO.

General information on the Web site includes that on anonymous tips, domestic violence, identity theft, missing persons and more.
