Police arrested an Edmonds man Monday in Lakewood who is wanted in a June 11 assault and robbery of a local woman.

The Snohomish County Violent Offender Task Force arrested Matthew Propst, 29, in an apartment that belonged to someone he didn't know, according to Washington's Most Wanted.

US Marshals say Propst had a friend in Everett call someone in Lakewood and tell them he was coming to hide out. Lakewood Police, Department of Corrections officers and the US Marshals assigned to the Tacoma office of the Pacific NW Violent Offenders Task Force assisted in his capture at the complex.

Deputies say Propst knew he was featured this past weekend on Washington’s Most Wanted, which is why he left Snohomish County to hide out in Lakewood.

He is a career criminal accused of sneaking up on a woman sitting in her car at an apartment complex, then beating her and stealing her purse on June 11 on the 22900 block of 76th Ave W. The woman suffered cuts to the inside of her mouth and injuries to her face. She was treated at the scene by Fire District Aid/Medic units.
