Collisions, Near-Drowning - Snohomish County Fire District 1 Calls

Snohomish County Fire District 1 responded to 395 calls the week of June 20-26: 312 emergency medical aid calls, 30 motor vehicle collisions, 19 fires, 17 service calls, 2 natural gas leaks and 15 automatic fire alarms.

June 20

COLLISION:  At 6:51 a.m., a two-car collision was reported at 116th Street SE and 35thAvenue SE south of Everett. Firefighters transported two patients to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.

COLLISION:  At 10:20 a.m., a three-car collision occurred at Cypress Way and Larch Way east of Lynnwood. Firefighters transported one patient to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

COLLISION:  At 4:15 p.m., firefighters responded to a three-car collision at 220th Street SW and Highway 99 in Edmonds and transported two patients with minor injuries to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

June 21

COLLISION:  At 6:58 p.m., a two-car collision was reported at Airport Road and E. Gibson Road south of Everett. Firefighters transported one patient to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.

June 22

COLLISION:  At 12:56 a.m., one car ended up in a ditch after colliding with another vehicle on northbound I-5 south of Everett. Firefighters transported one patient to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

COLLISION:  At 4:04 a.m., a semi-truck tipped onto its side on northbound I-5 north of 128thStreet SW.  The driver was seriously injured and was transported by firefighters to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.

NEAR-DROWNING: At 4:29 p.m., firefighters transported a 3-year-old girl to Harborview Medical Center after she was pulled from a pool at a home in the 10700 block of 226th Street SW in Edmonds. The girl was not breathing when she was pulled the water. CPR was initiated immediately by those who found the girl and she was breathing when the paramedic unit left for the hospital.

June 24

COLLISION:  At 6:51 a.m., a two-car collision was reported at 218th Street SW and 84thAvenue W in Edmonds. Firefighters transported one patient with minor injuries to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

COLLISION:  At 9:02 a.m., a two-car collision was reported on southbound I-5 just north of 244th Street SW in Mountlake Terrace. Firefighters transported one patient with minor injuries to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

June 25

COLLISION:  At 7:20 p.m., a three-car collision was reported at 220th Street SW and Highway 99 in Edmonds. Firefighters transported one patient to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

June 26

APARTMENT FIRE:  At 2:48 p.m., an apartment manager reported a strong smell of smoke coming from an apartment in the 16600 block of 6th Avenue W west of Mill Creek. Firefighters discovered heavy smoke damage in the apartment, but it appeared the fire had gone out on its own.  The occupant had not advised anyone of the fire, which left the unit uninhabitable. Investigators believe the fire was started by a sofa that had been placed too near a wall heater.

COLLISION:  At 5:16 p.m., a rear-end collision was reported in the 7400 block of 212th Street SW in Edmonds. Firefighters transported one patient to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

Fire District 1 is the largest provider of fire and emergency medical services in Snohomish County, with full-time staffing at 12 fire stations. The department serves nearly 200,000 residents in unincorporated south Snohomish County, Brier, Edmonds, Mountlake Terrace and Woodway.
