Volunteers Rule!

Ideas for volunteering in a K-12 school

As you look ahead to your fall schedule, work in an hour for a local K-12 school. Volunteering is easy and keeps you up-to-date on what's happening in today's schools:

* Listen to an elementary child read or read to a child (or help with math, art, science, etc.)

* Help supervise students or work as an afterschool tutor.

* Share your knowledge or profession in a mini-lecture * Work on a school clean-up project, fundraiser or attend school presentations as a staff or school support person.

* Chaperone an educational trip or invite a class to visit your workplace to learn about your expertise.

When you support students and teachers, you support tomorrow's leaders as they grow and learn. Contact a local area school to learn how easy it is to become a volunteer.
