Holiday time is a great time to get a "little help" in the kitchen. It's a busy cooking and baking time that could include children.
It may seem like inviting extra work, but if you look at it from a different angle, it's a chance to spend time with children and have them help you. I see a few eye rolls and hear a few 'you must be kidding' comments, but think about it. They can:
get out utensils and set them in the sink/wash them as you finish with them

entertain you with their ideas, songs and questions
Sure it may take a few minutes of extra planning and you may need extra space for a helper, but it can also make memories for you and them. We gather at celebrations centered around food, why not include children in the preparation as well?
