Edmonds CC earns national recognition for certificate programs

LYNNWOOD, Wash. — Edmonds Community College has earned national recognition as one of the top 100 community colleges for producing one-year-certificate graduates for the 2011-2012 academic year.


Edmonds CC earned six distinctions — including two in the Top 10 — according to the June 24, 2013, issue of the national publication Community College Week.


The college was 12th in the nation in producing one-year certificates. Other distinctions: sixth in Asian-American graduates; ninth in American-Indian graduates; 11th in total non-minority graduates; 17th in African-American graduates; and 38th among all minorities.

“We’re proud to be honored for our variety of certificate programs and the diversity of students committed to earning specialized training and skills to help prepare them for the working world,” said Edmonds CC President Jean Hernandez.


Some of the certificates offered at Edmonds CC that can be completed in a year are Accounting, Basic Office Skills, Baking, Desktop Support Specialist, Event Planning, Hospitality and Tourism, Paralegal, and Pharmacy Technician. All certificates are listed on the college’s website, www.edcc.edu.
