'Argo' Diplomat will Speak at Edmonds CC

Were you intrigued by the 2012 film "Argo," which won Best Picture honors at the Academy Awards?

Here's a lecture you might be interested in, sponsored by Edmonds Community College's Creative Retirement Institute.

Mark Lijek was one of the six foreign diplomats smuggled out of Iran in 1980 after being hidden in the Canadian Embassy during the Iran hostage crisis.

Lijek's presentation, "The Best Bad Idea: The True Story of 'Argo,' " is Sept. 11 in Woodway Hall 202. Seating begins at 11:30 a.m.

Open to the public, tickets are $26, or $15 for CRI members.

Lijek was portrayed by actor Christopher Denham in the film.
