Obituary: Frederick "Fred" Joseph Scheuerman of Sherman Optical

Mr. Scheuerman, of Edmonds, worked his way up to become owner and licensed optician.

Frederick "Fred" Joseph Scheuerman, a licensed optician who worked at , died from cancer Feb. 29, 2012. He was 65 and lived in Edmonds.

Mr. Schuerman was born April 30, 1946 in Seattle. He graduated from Shoreline High School in 1964. He started working for the family business, Sherman Optical, at an early age as a clean-up boy for his grandfather, John F. Scheuerman, owner and founder of the business.

Sherman Optical, founded in 1939, was first located at Third and Pike in Seattle. The only remaining location now is in Edmonds, which Mr. Schuerman began running in 1975. Later, Mr. Schuerman's son, Mike, would help him run the store and became a licensed optician in 2004.

Mr. Schuerman is survived by his wife Teri; sisters Barbara, Terri, Patti and Kathy; his brother John; son Mike; daughters, Kim and Kay; as well as his three grandchildren, Kaylin, Ashley and Chase.
