Community, Emergency Responders Meet at Edmonds Night Out

The annual event was sponsored by the Edmonds Police Foundation.

Tuesday's annual "A Night Out Against Crime" at the playfield was a great chance for the community to learn how to protect themselves from crime while meeting neighbors, local businesses and emergency responders.

Where else can you just walk up to Edmonds Chief of Police Al Compaan and have a chat?

"This is great event for the community," said Compaan, looking out at the large crowd. "And the weather is just great."

The event, sponsored by the Edmonds Police Foundation, included police and fire officials, the K-9 Unit, SWAT unit, public safety agencies from South Snohomish County, local businesses and nonprofit organizations.

The Edmonds Police Foundation is a nonprofit that assists the Edmonds Police Department through education, fundraising and citizen involvement.
