Moss is boss

I am mad about moss

Every year my husband goes through the ritual of ridding the lawn of moss, racking it out, reseeding grass and praying it will all come back for the one month we enjoy our backyard in the sunshine.

For the last couple of years, I have suggested … "Let's embrace the moss". That statement falls on deaf ears BUT I still hope someday we can find a happy medium in fighting the moss or embracing the moss.

I personally love moss. I think it is so much more complex and visually interesting than grass. With playful textures and strange little visual details of the spore capsule that a macro lens really loves to capture. Go see Irina Belousova's Moss board on Pinterest some fun mossy images.

You can find a recipe of how to grow a moss garden. Think, aged mossy pots or moss graffiti. I have often thought of creating our house number of moss, but how long would it read 922?

A tile wall with checkerboard moss, or checkerboard moss on stone, an outdoor checkerboard table made of moss, as a table centerpiece, a small moss garden for indoors, or art for yours walls?
