Vets Selling Poppies This Weekend

Stop by one of the QFC or Top Foods on Saturday, or the Edmonds Memorial Cemetery Monday to buy a poppy and support programs for local veterans.

VFW Post #8870 will be offering the Poppy Program to raise funds to help local veterans. Stop by on Saturday, May 25 from 10 am to 5 pm. Locations are the Westgate QFC on 100th & Edmonds Way and Top Foods on 220th & Hwy 99.

The sale will continue in the morning on Memorial Day, May 27 at the Edmonds Memorial Cemetery on 100th near QFC.

The group is also promoting a drive to establish a memorial honoring Veterans. Currently the City of Edmonds is asking for input on a name for the SR104 mini park (see map below).

The group offers the following reasons for the park to be renamed Veterans Memorial Park include:

  • To honor all our Veterans who are serving and who previously served our great nation in the military forces and to memorialize our fallen heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of liberty, freedom and the American way.
  • To honor the commitment of our veterans who gave, and continue to give, so much so we can be free.
  • Memorialize the memory of our veterans who sacrificed all for our great nation.
