Referring to the pictures on my blog's title page: the tight buds on the left were pictured in mid-May. The middle shot was taken a month later. In the last shot, today, the flowers are starting to go to seed.
The blue-purple flowers pictured above bloom on a 6' tall stalk with alternate, compound leaves near the base. I don't find them listed on the Flower Program's list of 2013 plants. I'll try to remember to call them tomorrow to see if anyone can identify the plant.
In the meantime, take a look and see what you think. I'll let you know what I find out.
