Gallery North - February 2013 Show Gallery North celebrates the romantic month of February with featured artist, Christy Rommel and her show titled: "Mosaic Love." The show will include fine art mosaics, as well as functional art such as mirrors and small tables. "My favorite material to use in creating mosaics is glass," says Rommel. "The rich and vibrant colors are irresistible to me."Up in the loft - Gallery North's show "Lumination" continues through the month of February. The show features original works from Gallery North aritsts in a variety of medims, all intended to brighten and warm our lives and raise our spirits through the winter. You are invited to meet the artist and enjoy the art work at the Artist's Reception on Saturday, February 9, from 1pm-4pm. There will also be a reception at Gallery North during the Edmonds Third Thursday Art Walk on February 21 from 5-8pm. During the Art Walk Christy Rommel will be giving a mosaic demonstration. Please join us for these receptions. Refreshments will be served. Gallery North is open 7 days a week and is located in the heart of downtown Edmonds at 508 Main Street.

Everyone knows that an egg hunt is an Easter event whether it's called that or not. Everyone know that a holiday tree is really a Christmas tree. Trust me, the atheists and/or non-Christians are not trying to destroy Christianity. First, it would be impossible. Second, it would be too dangerous to us personally. Last, I personally respect other's traditions, but I'm not sure the same can always be said in reverse.

I am good with deleting the word Easter, and would like to see a departure from any emphasis on candy, which only compounds the diabetic epidemic in this country. Sometimes it is good to rethink the wisdom of something simply because it is a "tradition".
