With the elections behind us, and billions of dollars spent in a continuous, confusing onslaught of misleading advertising by groups you've never heard of — are you wondering

How did we get into this mess?  And how can we get out of it?

Join us for an inspiring and energizing afternoon!  Heist is a stunning documentary, which traces the roots of the American economic crisis to a 1971 memo entitled "Attack on the American Free Enterprise System," written by future Supreme Court Justice Lewis Powell, in which he urged American corporations to take a much stronger role in influencing politics and law. The film details the systematic implementation of Powell's memo by both U.S. political parties over the ensuing forty years.

Today, we are still dealing with the resulting economic crisis, and politics is the playground of the rich and powerful.  What about the hopes and dreams of ordinary Americans?

We can do something about it, and our discussion, facilitated by Ken Dammand, board member of Washington Public Campaigns, will tell you how.

Presented by Edmonds Unitarian Universalist Church Peace & Justice Committee and Washington Public Campaigns.  More info:  www.euuc.org,  www.washclean.org,   www.heist-themovie.com
