Money? Politics? Church? Come to a church service about getting the money out of politics at the Edmonds Unitarian Universalist Church this Sunday @ 10am.

Craig Salins, Executive Director of Washington Public Campaigns will join Rev. Eric Kaminetzky for Sunday service at Edmonds Unitarian Universalist Church (EUUC).

www.euuc.org

Rev. Kaminetzky will deliver a homily entitled, "For Such A Time As This" as prelude to a message from Craig Salins about the movement to get money out of politics by supporting publicly funded elections in the State of Washington.

If you come to church and your interest is piqued, please stay afterward for:

Money Out of Politics - Join with area Unitarian Universalists (UU's) to Strike at the Root! Sunday, June 10 at 11:30 a.m. in Religious Education Rooms 4 and 5

We work hard at the issues nearest to our hearts, whether social services, education, environment, but are our elected officials listening to us?  Not much.

They have to answer to their funders, wealthy individuals and special-interest groups and businesses!

It's time to Strike at the Root!  Recently, local UUs have begun joining forces, and they are coming to EUUC after the service.  Get energized!  Bring a sack lunch, watch a clip of the film Heist, make rally signs, pair up to plan to talk with city/county council members.  Together we will reclaim democracy so we can make real progress!

That is true about Citypark being in a lot of shade. Where's the skateboard park? Possibly a spotRead More at Edmonds Marina Beach??

If you want to know what it's like to have your religion disrespected, try having school camps,Read More orchestra and band concerts and back-to-school nights on the holiest of your religious holidays (equivalent to Christmas and Easter). Everyone knows that an egg hunt is an Easter event whether it's called that or not. Everyone know that a holiday tree is really a Christmas tree. Trust me, the atheists and/or non-Christians are not trying to destroy Christianity. First, it would be impossible. Second, it would be too dangerous to us personally. Last, I personally respect other's traditions, but I'm not sure the same can always be said in reverse.

Don't we have more important things to worry about? Easter Egg, Egg Hunt, who cares? It's a funRead More community event. And thank you to the sponsers that make this happen.

First of all, the government is not supposed to promote any religion. Secondly, the Easter bunnyRead More and egg hunt has no historical religious significance that I can think of, even though this is part of an American tradition. I am good with deleting the word Easter, and would like to see a departure from any emphasis on candy, which only compounds the diabetic epidemic in this country. Sometimes it is good to rethink the wisdom of something simply because it is a "tradition".
