Who? You. Owl Nest Box-Building on Saturday at City Park Needs Your Help

Puget Sound Bird Observatory to construct owl homes.

In an effort to help support native owl populations, Puget Sound Bird Observatory is holding a nest box-building event Saturday at City Park in Edmonds.

The goal is to build 10 boxes to be installed in local landscapes, with appropriate habitat, to help compensate for the loss of natural nesting cavities. Nest box kits have been precut.

Help is needed to assemble the boxes, and families are welcome. Twenty spots are available, and those interested should e-mail contact@pugetsoundbirds.org.

From the Puget Sound Bird Observatory:

You are welcome to take the owl box that you assemble to put up in your yard or neighborhood. We’ll provide a handout with tips to on where and how to install the box. We simply ask that you cover the $10 cost of the wood. Or, if you are not already a PSBO member, and would like to join for $25, you may keep your assembled owl box as your first perk of membership. For this event, we’ll be able to accept cash or checks only.

As weather, wood, and time permits, there will also offer the opportunity to build bluebird boxes to be donated to the Puget Sound Bluebird Recovery Project.

We’ve removed the ability to reply as we work to make improvements. Learn more here
