Supplies Needed For Edmonds School District Students

The Family Center of South Snohomish County asks people to drop off school supplies for children in need.

An ongoing charity drive this summer seeks school supplies for 1,000 Edmonds School District students in need.

The drive, meant to assist families who can't afford back to school gear, is organized by the Family Center of South Snohomish County, the Edmonds School District, Turning Point, the Windermere Foundation, Community Health Center, and other community partners.

The Hazel Miller Foundation has already provided funds for backpacks for the students. The drive's organizers are now asking community members to donate supplies for the backpacks.

Donations can be dropped off at the Lynnwood Police Department, Edmonds School District Administrative Building, Community Health Center of Lynnwood, Red Onion Burgers in Mount Lake Terrace, The Family Center of South Snohomish County, the Lynnwood branch of Sno-Isle Library, and Windermere Real Estate office locations at the Alderwood Mall, Lynnwood and Edmonds.

Students in the Edmonds School District who have registered through their school as being in need of assistance can collect the supplies at an Aug. 17 event at Cedar Valley Community School.
