Raise a Glass to Beer

American Brewing Company participates in Seattle Beer Week.

Join Edmonds’ newest brewery as it celebrates Seattle Beer Week with an evening full of festivities, snacks and, of course, world-class beer!

, located in a warehouse near the waterfront, is hosting an evening celebration on Wednesday starting at 7 p.m. Seattle Beer Week is a 10-day event that began May 19.

“The whole purpose of this event is to draw attention to the world-class craft brewing community that we have in the greater Seattle area,” said Julie Anderson, the public-relations contact for the company. “This event showcases beer, breweries, local beer establishments, cuisine, tasting, fun events and demonstrations. It is truly a well-rounded Seattle beer lovers experience.”

And for beer lovers in Edmonds, American Brewing Company is filling that void. The festivities will begin with the tapping of a special cask-conditioned Oatmeal Chocolate Mint Stout, but the regular offerings such as American Blonde, Ed's Red and Breakaway IPA will be available as well. There will be a hot dog buffet featuring specialty dogs with all the fixings, including toppings with beer as a main ingredient.

“We decided to become involved in this year's Seattle Beer Week when we heard about how enthused the craft beer community is about this celebration and how much fun everyone involved has,” Anderson wrote in an email. “It's a great way to highlight all of the fantastic venues that are available for beer lovers in the Seattle area, ourselves included.”

Aside from great food (and even better beer), American Brewing Company’s Head Brew Master (and hockey goalie) Skip Madsen will suit up for a lively game of “Score the Skipper.” His confidence in his hockey skills has lead to his claims that no one can score against him. For a small fee, challengers can take three shots to try to prove him wrong.

In other Beer Week news, American Brewing Company’s ales have been chosen by Tom Douglas’ newest alehouse, Brave Horse Tavern, for part of the “Keggs and Eggs” brunch that was held Sunday, May 21.

“This week also is our three-month milestone of being open for business,” Anderson said. “We've started to gain a loyal fan base of customers who've been instrumental in spreading the word about us and our beer. We've just been approved to open a beer garden behind our tasting room as well--just in time for the good weather!”
