UPDATE: Now More Than 11,500 Without Power in Snohomish County

SnoPud has a number to call if your power is out. It also has safety tips and reminds customers not to approach downed power lines.

UPDATE: As of 4 p.m. Thursday, the Snohomish County Public Utilities District reports that there are about 11,500 customers without power, still mainly in the north and east areas of Snohomish County.

That figure increased from 5,100 earlier in the day.

If you live in these areas, SnoPud say that it is aware of those outages.

If you live elsewhere and are without power, you can call 425-783-1001.

SnoPud has about 50 crews out in icy conditions working to get power back on.

The district reminds customers that if you see a downed power line, do no approach it. It could carry enough electricity to prove fatal. Instead, stay awway and call the PUD if you see a power line on the ground to report the location.

If the situation is life-threatening (such as on top of an occupied car), call 911.

Meanwhile, Gov. Gregoire has issued a state of emergency due to the ice storm, and has authorized use of the National Guard to deal with problems.
