Look What the Wind Dragged In

Strong winds bring monster log to Edmonds' Marina Beach.

The recent heavy winds in Edmonds and the rest of Puget Sound left plenty of branches—big and small—on streets.

In Edmonds, the wind-whipped waves helped move a tree trunk—a log or piece of driftwood doesn't do this bad boy justice—on to the north end of Marina Beach near the playground.

It's a hearty specimen, dripping wet, soggy and speckled with moss. If its size wasn't enough to cause a scene, those physical features certainly help distinguish its from many brethren, who have dug into the sand for such a log time as to be sandy-colored like driftwood of yore.

If you and about 100 of your friends have ideas about lifting this behemoth from the beach (lifetime supply of firewood?), think again. All Edmonds beaches are marine sanctuaries. That means nothing is to be taken from them.

The wind? Weather reports have it breezy and occasionally gusty in Edmonds at times at least through Thursday at this point.
