Is This the Last Phone Booth in Edmonds?

The pay phone at the Edmonds Post Office stands like a solitary soldier, waiting for sometime to step inside.

Is there anything more charming than a phone booth these days?

Those of a certain age will remember fumbling for change so the operator wouldn’t interrupt your call for a feed-me-now demand for more coins.

Those much younger have no doubt never even used a pay phone. They’ve had cellphones their entire lives, of course.

Maybe the only people who use pay phones these days are those who don't want their steps retraced. Those on the lam. Those off the grid. Those, ah, fooling around.

There have been several stories nationwide about the functional obsolescene of phone booths. The Wenatchee World ran one. So did the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Which brings us to the GTE phone booth standing oh-so-lonely outside the Edmonds Post Office. Could this be the last phone booth in Edmonds?
