Here Come the Bridal Gowns

Cynderellie's Closet of Edmonds to host Bridal Open House this weekend.

Got wedding bells on the brain? Whether you’re recently engaged (Valentine’s Day surprise?) or you’ve had the ring for a while, make sure to check out the Bridal Open House, happening today and tomorrow at in downtown Edmonds.

Going into their sixth year of business, Cynderellies is a local, family-centered business that has won numerous customer service awards. They are committed to helping brides find the dress of their dreams. Cynderellies offers gowns at prices of $1,700 and less, with the occasional pick above the upper threshold.

The shop has hosted Bridal Shows in the past, but according to shop owner Denise Fehler this year’s event will be the biggest yet. The store is carrying a new line of silk gowns from Casablanca Couture, so this is a way of promoting the new line of dresses. If a bride purchases a gown, 10 percent of the value can be applied toward an accessory.

“It isn’t a sale, but a Trunk Show," Fehler said.

Aside from the new gowns, each day of the Open House will feature a slew of vendors that cover all aspects of a wedding, from flowers to photography. Saturday’s retailers include Frosted Cupcakes & Cakes (samples, anyone?), Petals Artistic Floral Design and Ashley Hoyle Photography. On Sunday, browse tables from the Edmonds Bakery, Esprit De Fleur and Ethereal Events, among others.

“Come early and talk to the vendors,” Fehler advised. “This is a great opportunity to see their work, and many of them will have their portfolios with them.”

Word travels fast among the wedding-minded, and the shop is already completely booked for fittings this weekend. Even so, Fehler and her team encourage brides-to-be to come by, look at the new line of couture gowns, and set up appointments for the near future.

“Do not wait,” Fehler cautions women who are planning their wedding and looking for THE dress. “It takes six to seven months to get into a dress, and there are lots of factors you have no control over.”

Fehler cited the unexpected snowstorms of the past few years as incidents that have delayed shipping and caused extra stress for brides already under pressure.

“You can always go to the market for flowers, but the dress is one of the most important parts of a wedding," Fehler said. "Do not wait!”
