  • Why Go: Come watch E-Dub take on Kamiak under the Friday night lights at Edmonds Stadium. The Warriors are 2-3 overall and 2-0 in conference play. Kamiak is 1-1 in conference play.

  • Where/When: 9 a.m. Saturday Oct 8 at the Edmonds Civic Playfield (Sixth and Bell).
  • Why Go: Join the Edmonds Public Schools Foundation for the third annual Edmonds Street Strut 5K Walk/Run. This year's event is in honor of late Madrona K-8 PE teacher GayLynne Ullerich, who was a devoted champion of kids' health and fitness. New to the event this year is a kids' 1K for ages 8 and under. Participants in the 5K (3.1 mile) run/walk include hardcore runners, families pushing strollers and even some four-legged friends, all enjoying the route that covers the scenic streets of Edmonds.
  • Registration: $5-$30.

  • Where/When: 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday at in Shoreline.
  • Why Go: Fall is the best time to plant trees and shrubs in the Northwest. Let the MsK Rare and Native Plant Nursery help you with your planting projects. With more than 500 species of plants in stock, you can probably find something to suit your needs. Discounts of 10 percent to 75 percent on all trees and shrubs.
  • Admission: Free.

  • Why Go: Grammy Award-winning Christopher Cross ("Sailing," "Ride Like the Wind") is the second performance of the ECA season. Can't wait until Saturday? This YouTube clip of Cross in action should tide you over.
  • Tickest: $40-45, $15 youth.

 

  • Where/When: 1-4 p.m. Sunday at in Edmonds.
  • Why Go: Gallery North, one of the oldest cooperative art galleries in the United States, is celebrating its 50th year during October with an exhibit of work from past Gallery North members. The exhibit includes several noted artists from around Puget Sound. You can view the exhibit and meet the artists during this reception.
  • Admssion: Free. Refreshments will be served.
