Freak Out: Nile Shrine Scaring Up Thrills for Its First Haunted House

Family friendly and "full scare" options available.

You might not choose the Nile Shrine Country Club and Golf Center as the first place to get your Halloween freak on with a haunted house.

After all, Nile's peaceful greens and fairways may be the last piece of serenity you get while chugging along SR 104 (Edmonds Way) to the frightful nightmare that is I-5.

Beginning Friday, though, Nile is exactly where the scares will be. No, Shriners will not be zipping around in red mini-cars while sporting zombie scabs. (Come to think of it, that might be worth a few bucks by itself.)

It's the club's inaugural Haunted House, and it runs Friday through Oct. 23 and Oct. 27-31.

Says haunted house spokesman Howard Wise: "There are three buildings set up on the picnic grounds, and visitors will pass from one to the next and be frightened out of their wits by a group of very talented Nile volunteers."

Hours are 5-7 p.m for family fun, 7-11 for what the Nile calls the "full scare."

On Oct. 27, a canned food drive will be held to benefit Northwest Harvest. Those who bring a can of food, or another non-perishable food item, will receive $2 off the ticket price. Those who have already purchased a ticket online can bring the food to receive a free gift at the door.

If you go, feel free to let us know what it's like. Should we be scared or not?

The Nile Haunted House is at Nile Shrine County Club and Golf Course at 6601 244th St. SW, Mountlake Terrace. Tickets are $10.
