Explosion Rocks Pinehurst Area; Heard, Felt in Edmonds

Officials confirm a house fire. Two people taken to the hospital.

Did you hear the explosion that rocked the Pinehurst area in north King County, north of the Northgate Mall, this morning just after 6 a.m.?

Reports of hearing it came in from Edmonds and the Snohomish County towns of Brier and Mountlake Terrace.

Some calling into local TV stations thought it was an earthquake, but it's been confirmed as a house fire at Fifth Avenue NE and NE 123rd St.

Two people have been taken to Harborview Medical Center, one in critical condition.

According to King 5 news: Fire officials said the explosion happened when an electrical switch was turned on inside the north Seattle home, sparking a massive explosion that sent a Seattle City Light employee and his girlfriend to the hospital.
