No Weather Wimps Here: Braving the Elements in Edmonds on Day 3

The weather doesn't stop residents from heading out.

The mayor stopped in for coffee at Starbucks. Kids sledded down hills. Families were out walking around.

It seems that on Day 3 of our snowy, icy and cold weather, some people just said the heck with it. Rain doesn't stop us, so why should snow? Jackets, boots, scarves, beanies, glooves—that's what they're for, right?

(Aside: Aren't ear muffs the cutest thing?)

, there are people in the Pacific Northwest who could be considered weather warriors, not weather wimps.

Robert Haverlock of Edmonds, for example, poo-poohed the nonstop weather coverage (hello, Edmonds Patch) of local media as he made his way up a hill on 228th Street SW in Esperance on skis, his poles guiding his way. His dog followed, a hearty fella.

"I'm coming back from the store," he said. "It kills me when they clear the parking lots. This is a lot easier way to get around."

Others made their way around various parts of town, walking, jogging or—lucky—being pulled on a sled.
