Edmonds Police Officers Take the Plunge for the Special Olympics

The Edmonds officers were among 500 from around the state who raised more than $122,000.

Over the weekend, a group of officers from the Edmonds Police Department joined nearly 500 other participants in a Polar Plunge at Seattle’s South Lake Union.

The event brought law enforcement officers from around the state together in an effort to raise support and funding for Special Olympics Washington.

Sgt. Mark Marsh partnered with Detective Brian McIntyre, Officer Earl Yamane and Officer Ross Sutton to take the plunge in order to help special athletes from the state.

Braving the chilly 43-degree outside temperature on a drizzly Saturday morning, the Edmonds officers took to the waters of South Lake Union where they found little relief from the cold, given the frigid 45-degree water temperature.

The 500 police officers from around the raised more than $122,000 to help Special Olympics at this year’s Polar Plunge.
