Edmonds Native Wins Space Needle Design
Nicole Commins' homage to evergreens will be featured on top of the Seattle icon for six months.
Congratulations to Edmonds native Nicole Commins, the winner of a contest to have a design on top of Seattle's iconic Space Needle.
The Seattle Times reports that Commins' design beat out five other finalists in an online voting contest that drew more than 100,000 votes.
Commins told The Times that her inspiration was "as if you were standing in the middle of one of Washington's state parks, looking up to the tree tops."

The design, called "Trees," shows the tops of evergreen trees in various shades of green. It will replace the orange color currently in place to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the World's Fair.
