Boeing Cutting 747 Production Rate at Everett Plant

The company says reduced market demand wili result in a drop in production from an average of two 747-8s per month to 1.75

 

Production of the 747-8 will be reduced at the Boeing Everett plant from an average of two planes to 1.75 per month because of a decline in market demand, the company announced Friday.

The first 747 to be delivered under the new production rate is expected in early 2014, and the change is not expected to have a significant impact of the company finances.

Boeing said in a press release that to date there have been 110 orders for passenger and cargo versions of the jumbo jet, and 46 of them delivered.

Boeing expects long-term average growth in the air cargo market to resume in 2014.
