Train followed by landslide followed by closure followed by "slope is stable" followed by train followed by landslide followed by closure followed by "slope is stable" followed by train .... etc, etc. over and over. It's time to close this game of landslide roulette until the rainy season is over. Are authorities waiting for a train to be hit? Oh wait, that's already happened twice, last December 17 and on January 15, 1997. Does the Federal Railway Administration need that to happen a third time before taking executive action to keep passenger trains off this segment in the rainy season?

I looked at the video of the train that derailed in December after a mud-slide and it is not hard to imagine the catastrophe it would be with people aboard. There's those open coal trains running a mile and a half also. That would certainly be an environmental disaster. So many trees have been cut and land developed extensively in spots with no integrity to the slopes or land left anymore. I believe this will continue to erode. The developers continue to want to do the same thing. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know this. We need to protect our environment.......at Bracketts Landing, there is a quote in brass in the beach wall by Rachel Carson.....I just saw this a couple weeks ago .....the irony of that......35 years after she wrote that ground-breaking book and the message of taking care of our environment, birds, etc, people still don't get it .....even when the land is falling into the sea.......I digress, but it all goes hand in hand
