A Kitty for the Holidays: Forgotten Felines Sponsors Adoption Event

About 20 kittens will be available on Nov. 26.

Forgotten Felines of Shoreline will hold its first Home for the Holidays adoption and donation event at the Aurora Village Petco in Shoreline on Nov. 26 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Founded by Helen Woodward Animal Center in California, the international Home for the Holidays campaign began in 1999 with just 14 participating animal organizations. The annual event has helped more than 5.8 million families experience pet adoption during the holiday season, including more than 1.1 million pet adoptions in 2010.

“With as many as eight million homeless pets nationwide, it is important everyone get involved to help save an orphaned animal this holiday season,” said Leslie Treanor, president of Forgotten Felines. “We’re proud to be a part of this amazing campaign and are dedicated to helping homeless animals experience a happy life with their new, loving families.”

About 20 kittens will be available for adoption at the Forgotten Felines event. The group plans to have a cage-free setting for the event, providing opportunities for families to interact with the kittens.

“We’ll bring toys for the kittens so people can watch them play,” Treanor said. “We want to give the public a chance to have fun with the kittens and make a difference in their lives by donating a gift from the holiday wish list.”
