A Day to Note: Wednesday not Tuesday

2011-12 School Year Important Dates Now Available!

Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, to be exact. That is the first day of school for the 20,000 students in our Edmonds School District, which serves students across south Snohomish County from the communities of Brier, Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, Woodway, unincorporated portions of south Snohomish County and yes, of course, Edmonds.

Why is this important? Well, besides the fact it is very helpful information for many of our parents and staff to have in hand so they can plan family trips and other fun summer outings, we want everyone to mark their calendars accurately. For the first time in a very long time, our schools will open to returning students on the Wednesday following Labor Day—not Tuesday.

It is something many have shared an interest in having us change and we hope it helps with planning. There are other key dates that the School Board has approved for the 2011-12 school year that will help all our community in planning and scheduling – as well as for 2012-13 and 2013-14. Please check them out!
