Walgreens will bring its new "wellness center" prototype to Edmonds, making the new investment the first for Snohomish County and one of three in the Puget Sound Region.

“Our pharmacies are on the front lines of health care in America, and we take our role as a centerpiece in improving patients’ overall health seriously,” said Bruce Phillip, district manager for Walgreens’ Seattle North Division. “Our vision is to bring holistic wellness solutions to residents and families in Edmonds, and we felt this new store model would fit well within the Edmonds community.”

The store will include the following:

  • A modern layout that includes fresh produce, soft lighting and wider aisles
  • Screenings and diagnostics
  • Comprehensive year-round immunization, including Hepatitis A/B, HPV, MMR, meningococcal, tetanus and diptheria, varicella, zoster and flu vaccinations

In addition, Walgreens says it offers expanded preventive health care services, which include testing for total cholesterol and HDL (high-density lipoprotein), blood glucose and A1C. Each test includes a free blood-pressure reading and personal consultation with a Walgreens pharmacist.

Walgreens pharmacies also provide medication adherence services, counseling and other assistance that help lower medical costs by improving outcomes.

We offer patients a way to stretch their dollars and maintain their prescriptions in one place without sacrificing the safety, service or convenience of their nearby neighborhood drugstore.

One example of this customer-centered philosophy has been the success of our Prescription Savings Club, which has more than 2 million members and goes well beyond the discount generic programs offered at other retailers.

Members receive discounts on more than 8,000 brand name and generic medications, with more than 700 value-priced generics for as low as $1 per week for a 90-day supply.

Since 2011—at Walgreens six nearby locations in Lynnwood, Bothell, Everett and Mountlake Terrace—we have organized 32 community health events, donated $3,260 in products to charity, given 1,200 free flu shot vouchers with a $38,388 retail value, given to local food banks and sponsored Little League teams.

Walgreens plans to bring the same community focus and benefits to Edmonds.
