Seattle Magazine Recognizes American Brewing Co.'s Skip Madsen

Edmonds business, open for seven months, is one of a number of breweries shaping the Northwest craft beer scene, the magazine says.

Seattle magazine has selected as one of the “Local Brewers You Need to Know” in its October issue. The issue has theme of the “Ultimate Beer Lover’s Guide.”

Brewer Skip Madsen is recognized, says the magazine, as one of “the brewers and brewmasters currently shaping the Northwest craft beer scene.”

The magazine features a picture of Madsen is old-style, black-and-white photography.

Located in the Harbor Square, American Brewing Co. . With more than 20 years of experience, Madsen’s pedigree includes 29 medals, three awarded at the World Beer Cup, one of which was a Gold Medal.

American Brewing’s beer is now on tap in bars and restaurants throughout the greater Seattle area. The brewery is also , and bottles of Breakaway IPA, American Blonde and Caboose Oatmeal Stout can be found in QFC, Thriftway and Central Market, among other grocery stores.

This summer, Madsen teamed up with Warren Peterson, sou chef at the newest Tom Douglas restaurant in Seattle, the Brave Horse Tavern, to create a beer that is compatible to the restaurant’s menu. The result was the Brave American, a Northwest brown ale.  The beer is available as American Brewing’s tasting room.

Last week, the Edmonds brewery added three more tanks to its operation: two 30-barrel fermenters and one 30-barrel bright tank. 

“We are proud to have earned the recognition this issue has given us,” says American Brewery marketing manager Julie Anderson. “It will also inform a large readership about one of the most talked about newest breweries to have opened this year, one which happens to be located in the great city of Edmonds.”
