Rick Steves' Holiday Challenge: Donate Money to the Needy, Get Travel Gifts

The Edmonds residents want those who can to donate $100 to Bread for the World.

In August, . At the same time, he challenged other civic businesspeople in Puget Sound to donate to their communities as well.

Now, Steves says he wants to put a little extra meaning into the holiday season by raising money to help protect the poorest and hungriest Americans from necessary budget cuts being made in Washington, DC. This time, he’s calling on anyone who wants to help. Steves’ challenge: Those who donate money directly to Bread for the World will receive a special Christmas present from Steves.

On his Web site, Steves writes that Bread for the World is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization in Washington, DC, working to urge our government to address the needs of hungry people at home and around the world.

How can you help?

With a $100 gift, Steves will send you his Rick Steves' European Christmas DVD; a European Christmas coffee-table book; and a Christmas music CD produced while filming , featuring 20 favorite European carols.
