Is Dick's Drive-In Worth the Hype?

Edmonds location has now been open a month.

has been an institution for more than 50 years in King County. The chain's first store in Snohomish County, in Edmonds, has been open for a month now. If the long lines are any indication, Dick's is well on its way to being an institution in SnoCo as well.

But what is it about Dick's that keeps people coming back? Is it the memories? The cheap grub? Handmade shakes?

Or is it the burgers?

In an age of $10 gourmet burgers, the top price at Dick's is $2.70 for a Deluxe with two patties. The hamburger is $1.25, for goodness' sake.

We want to know: Why do you keep going back to Dick's? You can tell us in the comments below, or take our poll.

Meanwhile, The Herald of Everett today has a review of Dick's. Edmonds Patch will have its own review shortly.

I think the results are pretty clear: Edmonds Patch readers go to Dick's for the quality of the food.

Having a Dicks in Edmonds is NOT a good thing, and here's why:..... It used to be that if I wanted a Dicks burger with all the fixins', I had to drive all the way down to Holeman Road. This was good, because I had to REALLY want it. Now they're just a hop down the road, just over a mile from home. Consequently..... The frequency with which I can satisfy even the tiniest twinge for a Dick's Deluxe can be assuaged in mere matter of minutes. The former built-in Self-Control has no been completely devastated. And I'm SURE that my Family Physcian is NOT going to be happy with me! BAD DICKS!!!
