Holiday Tree Lighting Festivities Are Today at Centennial Plaza

Today is also Small Business Saturday, which begins at 11 a.m. in Edmonds.

An Edmonds tradition comes to life today with the lighting of the Edmonds' Christmas tree in Centennial Plaza across the street from City Hall on Fifth Avenue South.

Festivities begin at 4:30 p.m.

The event is sponsored by the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce. There will be entertainment, cookies and cider and, of course, caroling. After the ceremony, pictures with Santa will be available at the .

Before the lights are switched on, there should be plenty of activity in Edmonds. Today , which encourages shoppers to dedicate a portion of their holiday shopping to local independently owned small businesses.

Festivities will begin at 11 a.m., with a proclamation by Edmonds Mayor Mike Cooper at noon.
