Family Tradition Continues With Christmas Tree Lot at Country Farms

The Waters family, which switches to produce from March to November, opened the stand 45 years ago.

A family holiday tradition has returned to Edmonds with the opening of Country Farms annual Christmas tree lot on the corner of 228th Street Southwest and Highway 99.

It was 45 years ago that the Waters family opened the Country Farms stand, which now also has other family owned locations in Everett and Lake Stevens in Snohomish County, Burlington in Skagit County and Bellingham in Whatcom County.

The store was built by Jay and Lou Waters, said Rod Waters, Country Farms owner.

The stand in Edmonds is run by Frank Marks and Cynthia Delp and their son, Aaron Sloan.

Country Farms has noble, grand and Douglas fir trees from 2 feet to 12 feet, in addition to custom-flocked trees and wreaths of various colors.

The trees are delivered to Edmonds from farms in Bremerton, Shelton and Mossyrock.

After the holidays, the stand will remain vacant until the end of March, when the Waters family will reopen it as the popular fruit and vegetable stand through Nov. 1.

Country Farms Market is at 22800 Highway 99, Edmonds. Hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week. For more information, call 425-774-3463 or go to countryfarmsmarket.com.
