Costco Membership Fee Is Going Up $5 Beginning Nov. 1; Will You Pay It?

, headquartered in Issaquah, is raising its annual fee by $5 on Nov. 1, according to the Puget Sound Business Journal. It'll be $55 per year—it's $50 now—for individual, business, business add-on and Canada business members.

Executive membership annual fees will also increase in the U.S. and Canada to $110 from $100. In addition, the maximum 2 percent reward tied to executive membership will increase to $750; it had been $500, according to a statement on Costco’s website.

Costco has 592 warehouses, including 429 in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, 82 in Canada, 32 in Mexico, 22 in the U.K., nine in Japan, eight in Taiwan, seven in Korea and three in Australia.

Nearby Costo wholesale centers are in Everett and the Aurora Village shopping center in Shoreline.

Costco announced its fourth-quarter sales rose to $27.59 billion, an increase of 17 percent from $23.59 billion in the 16-week fourth quarter of fiscal 2010 ending Aug. 29, 2010. This year's 16-week period included sales from the company's Mexico joint venture; otherwise the increase would have been 14 percent. Net sales for the 52-week fiscal year 2011 were $87.05 billion, an increase of 14 percent from $76.25 billion last year; excluding Mexico sales, the increase would have been 11 percent.
