Boeing CEO: 787 a 'Fabulous Airplane,' Will Be Back in Service in Due Time
The Boeing chairman kicks off the U.S. Chamber's annual Aviation Summit and says he sees a renaissance in American manufacturing.
Boeing CEO Jim McNerney says the 787 Dreamliner will be back in service “in due time” and will prove a success despite its battery problems, reports the Puget Sound Business Journal.
The Boeing chairman kicked off the 12th Annual Aviation Summit at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Thursday, acknowledging that it has been a tough time for the company and that there have been issues with its supply chain and design control.

Business Journal Washington bureau chief Kent Hoover quoted McNerney as saying, “We've got this fabulous airplane -- none of the promise of this airplane has really been diminished by this."
McNerney also said those who believe America’s days are over as a manufacturing giant are wrong. "I think we're on the verge of an American manufacturing renaissance," he said.
